update.check#
Check for updates
Report the current version, the latest release on updates.channel (stable, or prerelease to include pre-releases), its notes link and whether an update applies. Without manual it uses the network at most once a day, and never when updates.mode is off. With manual, which means the user asked, it asks GitHub now, also when off. Installs nothing.
Annotations: read-only, idempotent, open world.
| Argument | Type | Required | Default | Details |
|---|---|---|---|---|
manual | boolean | false | The user asked for this check |
tomaccoctl call update.check
update.apply#
Install update
Start a durable job that downloads the latest release, verifies its Ed25519 signature and installs it through the journalled installer, rolling back if the new version fails its health check. Refused while a job, a device session or the virtual iOS device runs.
Annotations: destructive, not idempotent, open world.
| Argument | Type | Required | Default | Details |
|---|---|---|---|---|
manual | boolean | false | The user asked for this installation; needed when updates.mode is off | |
auto | boolean | false | Started by automatic updates: needs updates.mode auto, and skips a version that failed or was rolled back |
tomaccoctl call update.apply
update.status#
Update status
Report the update mode, the last check and installation, a running update job, what blocks an installation now and whether a rollback is available. Uses no network.
Annotations: read-only, idempotent, closed world.
Takes no arguments.
tomaccoctl call update.status
update.rollback#
Roll back update
Restore the version before the last installed update from the installer's journal. Files changed since that installation are preserved and refuse the rollback.
Annotations: destructive, not idempotent, closed world.
Takes no arguments.
tomaccoctl call update.rollback
