What's new in 1.2
Tomacco 1.2.1 is the first published 1.2 release; 1.2.0 was tagged but not released. It adds 31 operations, for 224 in all. Download it from the 1.2.1 release on GitHub, or install it with the one line on the home page.
Highlights
- Faster virtual iPhone starts. A start no longer copies the 32 GiB system disk
when
qemu-imgis available: it layers an overlay on the last verified run. On the test profile, disk preparation took 16 s instead of 89 s, and a verified stop 5 s instead of 258 s. - SwiftUI apps on the virtual iPhone in one call.
project.runbuilds an xtool project, installs it, opens it and checks for a crash. With the included example it built in 9.5 s and was installed and opened in 13.4 s.project.watchdeploys again on every save. - A smoother virtual iPhone. On a live phone, one boot each with the old and new engine: 5.9 instead of 3.6 distinct frames a second while swiping, with pixel-identical screenshots.
- Tests. Record a UI test by tapping, check it without running it, retry flaky scenarios and split them across devices.
- Performance and release work. Startup, frame, memory and usage profiles with budgets that fail a test; store screenshots, release notes per language, size reports, signing key health and version bumps.
- Desktop. An update banner with Restart now and a What's new sheet, every running device side by side, a live log beside the device, Wi-Fi pairing by QR code and a command palette.
- Install and trust.
tomaccoctl verifychecks a download's checksum and signature. A Docker image can be built from the signed package.tomaccoctl setupalso connects OpenCode; see connect your coding agent.
Fixed in 1.2.1
- The installer's uninstall and rollback now also run on Python 3.10, as on Ubuntu 22.04.
- Deploying to the virtual iPhone no longer fails when an earlier copy of the project used the same bundle identifier.
Not tested
These were tested with stand-ins only, not on real devices or projects: the iPhone-over-USB features, Flutter, React Native, Expo and Kotlin Multiplatform runs, Wi-Fi pairing, and the Zed, VS Code and OpenCode agent setups. The Docker image is not published, because building it accepts Google's Android SDK license.
